This book was released at the same time as the film Rattle and Hum and was sold as a book that accompanied the film and the album. The book chronicles the making of the film, and was written by U2’s long time collaborator Peter “Willie” Williams with Steve Turner. It includes the stories behind many of the scenes in the film, and goes into detail about the film itself through a large number of photographs captured as the film was shot.

The book was subtitled “A Journey into the Heartland of Two Americas” in some regions.
