Background Information

On January 19, 2009, U2 debuted their new single, “Get On Your Boots”. It was initially due to be premiered on “The Colm & Jim-Jim Breakfast Show” on Irish radio station RTE 2fm at 8:10am that morning, by the bands long time supporter Dave Fanning. However, after a 30 second sample of the song was leaked onto the internet that morning, the song was made available in digital shops around the world an hour before the premiere was done by Fanning on radio. Later that day the track was streamed on u2.com at the address http://goyb.u2.com. You could purchase the track as part of a pre-order of the album that morning.

The artwork that was available with the digital single on the day of release was a white background with the song title in black and U2 logo in grey. If you pre-ordered the song with the album you got the white artwork. If you purchased the single separately from the album you got a black background with the song title in white, and the U2 logo in grey, which was the same as promotional singles released at the time. The only appearance of the white artwork was with this digital single available when you pre-ordered the album.

The single “Get On Your Boots” recieved a physical release on February 16, 2009. After that date when purchasing “Get On Your Boots” separately on iTunes one either received the album artwork or the commercial single artwork depending on which was purchased. At that time, “No Line on the Horizon 2” was also made available for purchase.
