Background Information

On April 27, 2018, the video for “Love is Bigger Than Anything in its Way“ was released following the delivery of the album version of the song to radio. The video for the song, featured the LGBTQ community in Dublin as well as allies and friends, in an expression of the enjoyment of diversity and inclusiveness in that community. The video director, David Mushegain, had previously worked with U2 on the lyric video for “You’re The Best Thing About Me“. The video was made available for sale on iTunes.

On May 4, 2018, a three track single was released for “Love is Bigger Than Anything in its Way” which included remixes by Will Clarke, The Funk Hunters and Daybreakers. The single is titled “Love is Bigger Than Anything in its Way Remixes” and features an orange and black cover, similar to previous covers seen for the album using blue and black. (Orange is the negative image of blue) Three remixes are available on this commercial single, including one from British DJ Will Clarke, another from Canadian duo The Funk Hunters, and a third remix from Daybreakers, a duo hailing from the UK and Canada. A digital promotional release of this single was also sent out to DJs on the same day. A video for the Will Clarke version of the song appeared on May 4, 2018.

On May 11, 2018, a second release of “Love is Bigger Than Anything in its Way” was done, using the same cover, with a silhouette of Eli and Sian over top of the cover. This time the release was one track, and contained an acoustic version of “Love is Bigger Than Anything in its Way”.

On May 25, 2018 a further remix was released, by the DJ trio, Cheat Codes, featuring additional lyrics performed over the U2 remix by Cheat Codes. The mix is titled “U2 x Cheat Codes” and was released to digital store fronts and streaming services. The artwork for this remix uses the same art as the art for the earlier released Acoustic version of the song. The additional vocals and lyrics are by lead vocalist of the Cheat Codes, Trevor Dahl. Dahl spoke about the collaboration, “U2 is world class; never worked with an artist as detail oriented as these guys. We come from 2 different worlds, and it took a while to find that perfect balance of dance, rock, and pop sensibilities, but in the end, it resulted in something really special.”

On June 1, 2018, another remix of “Love is Bigger Than Anything in its Way” was commercially released. This time the remix is by Beck, who supported U2 on their The Joshua Tree 2017 tour. Beck also previously remixed “Lights of Home“ which was released commercially as a digital single, and as part of a picture-vinyl for Record Store Day in April 2018. His remix of “Love is Bigger Than Anything in its Way” will be available on June 1, on streaming services, and on digital store fronts worldwide.

It is expected that further remixes will be released in the near future. This includes remixes by producers DrewG, David Alvarado, (released for promotion May 9) Moody Boy, Robbie Rivera, VibePosse, (released for promotion May 15) Jesus Montanez, and Twisted Dee (released for promotion May 21), John “J-C” Carr and Daybreakers (released for promotion May 29).
