"Zoo Station" - U2

Promotional Release

Background Information

In March of 1992, as the band was getting ready to embark upon the first leg of the Zoo TV tour in North America, the label released a 12-Inch picture disc to radio stations to promote the tour. The 12-Inch was black on one side, and white on the other with text in the opposite colour. It featured the Zoo TV logo in a big area across the top of the vinyl. On one side was printed the song information, and on the other was a list of tour dates making up the first leg of the Zoo TV tour.

These were printed well in advance of the tour, as the dates list an April 20th show in Portland, Oregon, which never materialized. Instead this show was replaced with a second show in the itinerary in Tacoma, Washington.

“Zoo Station” as found on this release is the same as the album version, taken from “Achtung Baby”. The B-Side features two versions of “Lady with the Spinning Head”, one of which was released the same month on the single “One”. The other remix of “Lady With the Spinning Head” was unique to this release until “Even Better than the Real Thing” was released in the summer of 1992.
