Bono and Edge to Perform on CBS “Sinatra 100” Special

Original Story by Harry Kantas (2015-12-05)

CBS has revealed that Bono and The Edge will be participants on the upcoming “Sinatra 100” special in celebration of what would be Sinatra’s 100th birthday. The concert special titled Sinatra 100: An All-Star Grammy Concert, was taped at the Encore Theatre in Las Vegas, and is set to air on Sunday, December 6 at 9pm EST. The event was a black tie event, with performers such as Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Alicia Keys, and Usher.

Although not present at the concert a number of acts are expected to contribute via pre-taped videos, including Sam Smith who recorded a version of Sinatra’s “My Funny Valentine” for the event.

It is expected that the segment with Bono and the Edge will be a performance of their own song “Two Shots of Happy, One Shot of Sad”. Our friends at u2valencia have reported that a recording of that song was done while U2 were on the Innocence and Experience tour in London on November 2.

The song “Two Shots of Happy, One Shot of Sad” was written by Bono and the Edge for Frank Sinatra to sing, however he never did record the song. U2 recorded a version of the song, and included it on 1997’s “If God Will Send His Angels“ single. Adam and Larry also recorded a version of the song with Sinatra’s daughter Nancy on her album Nancy Sinatra in 2004. Bono has also recorded a version of the song in 2009 with The Imposters while appearing on the second season of Elvis Costello’s Spectacle.

Bono and The Edge also performed the song for Sinatra’s 80th birthday. That performance can be seen below:
