Original Story by Aaron J. Sams (2018-04-12)

We know many of you are interested in rehearsal spoilers. There are not any to be found here. The band appears to be taking a day off today. The venue in which they are rehearsing is home to a big hockey game tomorrow night, and it appears they’ve had to load equipment out of the building today.

U2 probably won’t be rehearsing every night next week either. On Thursday April 19, Bono will be recognized as the inaugural George W. Bush Medal for Distinguished Leadership recipient at a gala at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas. The press release states he is receiving the award for “his relentless efforts to end hunger, poverty, and disease across the world.”

The award ceremony will be part of the Forum on Leadership being held at the George W. Bush Presidential Center from April 18 – 20. It does mention Bono will be in attendance as some of the ‘exclusive engagement opportunities’ mention ‘pre-event receptions with the George W. Bush Medal for Distinguished Leadership recipient, Bono, and our keynote speaker, Jeff Bezos.”

The band may still rehearse that day, but Bono is unlikely to be with them.

Tomorrow sees the release of three old U2 items on vinyl. Remastered versions of the albums Pop and All That You Can’t Leave Behind are being released on 180g vinyl. Pop is a double LP and the other will contain one disc. Also being released is the four song EP “Wide Awake in America” also on 180g vinyl.

“Wide Awake in America” is the remastered version used for the 2009 release of The Unforgettable Fire in the deluxe editions. Both Pop and All That You Can’t Leave Behind have also been remastered, and this is the version that was used to make last years MFiT reissue on iTunes.

In July it is expected an additional item will be released, The Best of 1980 – 1990.

Next week brings Record Store Day. U2 is issuing “Lights of Home“ as a single with three different mixes of the title track. Two of these mixes feature on the deluxe version of Songs of Experience, while the third, a remix by Beck, is new to this release. The set will feature a download card.

“Lights of Home” has also been issued to radio in Poland, while “Love is Bigger Than Anything in its Way” appears to be the next radio single in North America. “Summer of Love” is the current song being promoted to radio in The Netherlands.

A remix of “Love is Bigger Than Anything in its Way” was played on RTE Radio on March 23. That remix was done by American DJ and producer Junior Sanchez. It has also been played on more recent episodes of the program which are still available such as this one here: http://pulse.rte.ie/2018/04/09/twilight-w-christian-homan-listen-back-joe-goddard-phone/

Also recently released, a new Acoustic Version of “Get Out of Your Own Way“ – released last week on digital storefronts worldwide, this version was recorded at a television appearance by Bono and The Edge in December.

It’s now 20 days till the start of the tour. Right around now all of the suspense will be ending for many. If you ever want a current countdown, we have one running on our front page, and we’re also posting ‘tour facts’ daily as we get closer to the start of the tour.

We will return to our rehearsal coverage when they resume. Until that time we’d like to remind you that we are trying to keep spoilers off of our social media accounts to allow viewers a safe place to visit. We ask you to please not post song spoilers in the comments section on these feeds. Your help is appreciated.
