Release Dates or Not?

The dates announced on this site for the new album have been questioned this past week. From u2universe.com the following release has been found. “A U2 spokeswoman has contacted dotmusic to clarify constant rumours about the band’s new album.

Mounting speculation on the internet has stated that U2’s new album, their first since 1997’s ‘Pop’, would be released on October 30, with a single preceeding it on October 9.

However, the spokeswoman said this was all pure speculation. She insisted: ‘The band are currently in the studio and the new album will be finished in the next few weeks.

‘It is scheduled for a late August release but exact dates are not yet
fixed. Full details are anticipated in due course, when the title,
tracklisting and release date have been confirmed.’”

Today, u2star.com is reporting that “Adam Clayton has recently confirmed, as he was leaving Hanover Studios, that the album will be released at the end of October. He also mentioned that the band is working in multiple studios, and is 2-3 weeks from completing the album.”

Sources from Island are still using the previously announced date of October 30 (UK) and October 31 (NA). I’ll leave it up to you to decide if the date is true or not, but for now the counter on the main page remains.
