North Side Story is a fan club gift to subscribers of U2.com for the 2014 subscription year. The gift is a book with no music content. Also included in the present is a map of Dublin titled “North & South of the River, Wandering in U2’s Dublin.” The book is softcover, and has 274 pages and includes a series of original interviews, diaries, and photos from the 1977 – 1983 period of U2’s career. The book was commissioned from the Hot Press magazine team. Articles in the book included interviews with several people U2 had worked with over that time frame, as well as reprints of articles from the time. The book was edited by Niall Stokes. The book has only been made available through the subscriber offer at this time.

The map, designed by Steve Averill charts U2’s early history in Dublin, in a map that is not to scale. The map would also be made available as a Record Store Day exclusive, but is modified from the fan club version.

The book was announced as the subscriber gift on November 14, 2013. The first subscribers started to receive the gift on January 29, 2014.
