"Angels Too Tied to the Ground" (1983)
“Angels Too Tied to the Ground” is a song developed for War.
Between 2008 and 2011, U2 went back into the archives while remastering albums and dug up a number of older songs which had never been completed. In some cases these songs were released as they were in their original form. In other cases, the band went back in and altered the original songs, adding vocals and in some cases composing additional music. Most of this work was done under the supervision of Declan Gaffney.
“Angels Too Tied to the Ground” is one of the tracks that dates back to the War album in 1983. This is one of the tracks that has been added to in sessions in May 2008. It is likely that the music was mostly finished in 1983, but Bono’s vocals may be newly recorded or added to.
“Angels Too Tied to the Ground” was released in 2008 on the deluxe edition of War.
