In an article in the Irish Independent in May 1993, an Irish music critic gave some comments on U2’s new album, Zooropa which he had heard a week prior when the band were putting the finishing touches on the music.
At the time the album was 11 tracks in length, and “Babel” was the track title given to the first song on the album. “Zooropa” came in as the second song. “Babel” was described as “A relaxed instrumental. It sets up the mood for ‘Zooropa’.” When the album was released these two songs were tracked together to become on song. “Babel” becomes the actual opening for “Zooropa”.
