Background Information

This album is Lil Wayne’s sixth entry into the Tha Carter series of albums. It includes a song titled “The Days” where Bono does extensive vocals on the song. Lil Wayne has confirmed this is an older song, which originated in 2013 – 2014. The song itself is produced by RedOne, a producer U2 was working with at the same time on a dance album. The album was released on June 6, 2025, at midnight Eastern, and this was a worldwide release at that time. The song with Bono, “The Days” is not included on the CD, and may be limited to just the digital release.

The announcement of the album, and announcement of Bono’s participation, came via a Rolling Stone article. In that article Lil Wayne spoke about a song called “These are the Days” which he shared included vocals by Bono as well as his son Kameron on vocals. Between that April article, and the release of the album on June 6, 2025, the song was retitled just “The Days”. The song on the album is credited to Lil Wayne and Bono. Both an explicit and a non-explicit version of the album was released, and “The Days” is featured on both. Although labeled explicit on one and not on the other, the song itself appears to be the same on both releases.

In the Rolling Stone article announcing the new album, it was shared, “One big Billboard-chart swing I hear is ‘These Are the Days,’ featuring Wayne’s son Kameron and Bono. The U2 vocalist sings about “counting the days,” while Wayne raps about being in a hospital bed after one of the numerous epileptic seizures he’s had since childhood. (As for his health: Wayne tells me he’s feeling “amazing” these days.) On ‘These Are the Days,’ Kameron has a shrill prepubescent voice; Wayne says the song is from ’2013 or 2014.’”

The song with Bono, “The Days” was premiered via a series of ads promoting the NBA Finals which started on June 5, 2025. The ads feature a short portion of the song, including a brief listen to Bono singing “The Days”.

The album was released on June 6, 2025 in a variety of formats. Digital versions, CD and black vinyl are the prominent formats. A coloured vinyl format is available direct via Lil Wayne’s fan site, and label sites. Autograph copies of the black vinyl and CD were made available and quickly sold out when the album was first announced on April 17, 2025, but are now available again via a special red vinyl version of the album sold through Lil Wayne’s site. An exclusive coloured purple release is available via Universal Records. On digital services both an explicit and non-explicit version exist, and while there are differences on some tracks the track with Bono, “The Days” is the same on both.

Visualizer videos were done for all of the songs on the album, including “The Days“, released via YouTube.
