Background Information
The third single released to radio from U2’s 2023 album Songs of Surrender is a re-recorded version of “Beautiful Day”, released to radio on March 3, 2023. The song was recreated during lockdowns, features the entire band, and is produced by Duncan Stewart, Bob Ezrin and The Edge.
Although “Beautiful Day” was the fourth commercial single issued, it was only the third promotional single issued to our knowledge. “One” which was highlighted on Super Bowl Sunday was not sent out for radio promotion.
The song was released commercially on the same day, appearing at midnight in each country on the day of release. The delivery to radio was later in the day just before noon Eastern. The song was delivered by digital services to radio, and we are not aware of any physical pressings of this item in the promotional format. The artwork sent to radio stations, like the commercial release, was the cover of the album and was not unique.
