This split single was released with U2’s version of “Jesus Christ” on one side, and John Mellencamp’s version of “Do Re Mi” on the other. The single was released in the Netherlands only for promotional use. The single was released to promote the album “Folkways: A Vision Shared” which featured modern artists covering songs made famous by Woody Guthrie and Huddie “Leadbelly” Ledbetter. The song “Jesus Christ” was a cover of a song performed by Woody Guthrie. The song was produced by Jimmy Iovine and Jack “Cowboy” Clement during the recording sessions for “Rattle and Hum”.
