"Night and Day" - U2

Promotional Release

Track Listing:

Background Information

The first new material in the 1990s by U2 was this cover song of Cole Porter’s Night and Day. It was found on the compilation for AIDS research, Red, Hot and Blue. Although never commercially released, in the UK and the Netherlands this promotional single was released by Island. It was numbered on the front cover and limited to 5000 copies. The front cover also carried the tracklisting and the credits for the release in the border, as well as the titles of the release.

The promo featured two mixes of Night and Day which were different from the version found on Red, Hot and Blue. The Steel String Remix would later appear on the commercial release for One in 1992. The Twilight remix was very similar to the mix called Youth’s Remix on the Out Loud compilation released in 1995. The two mixes only differ slightly in the last minute and a half in the timing of the track, and the closing edits.
