"Remixes from the 90s" - U2

Promotional Release

Track Listing:

Background Information

“Remixes from the 90s” was a promotional release which was issued to promote the upcoming compilation album “The Best of 1990 – 2000”. The promotional item was a five track compilation, sampling tracks from the B-Side CD that would come with the compilation.

Two versions of this single were issued, the first being a double 12-inch record set. The outer sleeve was silver, and the front cover only contained the title and “U2”, while the back cover contained the track listing. An inner sleeve was black, with additional information about the tracks and the release.

The second version of this release was a 5-inch CD, which came with an outer and an inner card sleeve. The outer sleeve is silver, and the front cover contains just the title and “U2” and the back contains track information. The inner sleeve is black in colour.

The same five songs are contained on both the vinyl and the promotional CD. Of note to collectors was that this release featured new edits of “Discotheque (Hexidecimal Mix)” and “Salome (Zooromancer Remix)”, the first indication that the versions on the eventual compilation would not be the same as what had previously been released.

The release of this promotional item was first noted on October 1, 2002. Both the 5-inch CD and 12-inch vinyl were released at the same time, and were only released in the UK.
