Background Information

This promotional CD was pressed in Mexico to use as an in-store promotion at the store El Palacio de Hierro store. People spending approximately $70 in the store were given copies of this promotional CD as a freebie. The store was also running a 25% discount on “The Best of 1990 – 2000” and heavily advertising that release in store the week that this promotion was on. “The Rest of the Remixes” promotional release was pressed in limited quantities and it is reported that only 3000 copies were pressed. The CD itself was pressed in January of 2003.

Quality control on the back copy of the CD was a bit lax, and it is littered with errors. This includes a mispelling of Bono as “Bon”, and crediting the song writing of “Stay” to “Hewson, Evans, and Mullen” and Bottoms to “Hewson, Evans, and Clayton”, when typically U2 has only ever been credited as U2, when more than Bono and the Edge have been involved in the writing duties. (Thanks to Pablo for the scans.)

The 5-inch CD was released in a cardboard sleeve. The artwork used on this promotional single was reminiscent of other artwork used for promotional items during this time including “Tracks from the ’90s” and “Remixes from the ’90s”, with a silver background and black text.
