"WFM 96.9" - U2

Promotional Release

Track Listing:

Background Information

In July of 1997, U2 had been on the road for a couple of months with the PopMart tour, and were facing less than great sales in some of the locations where the tour was scheduled to play. Tickets had been on sale since February of that year. Mexico was one of the regions where a show was planned and tickets were still for sale, so a promotional disc was developed for the Mexican market in conjunction with the radio station WFM 96.9.

This promotional disc was similar to the disc released under the name “Previously” to reintroduce US and UK markets to the band after a period of time away. The cover used was identical to the UK pressing of “Previously”, except where the title had once been, they now used some artwork from the “Last Night on Earth” promotional release (Edge tinted in purple). The track list was identical to the UK edition of “Previously” as well, with five studio tracks taken from U2 albums, only it added one additional track which was the album version of “Last Night on Earth”. The CD was pressed for Mexican markets on July 25, 1997 by Cinram. The disc was circulated in a cardboard sleeve with full front and back images.
