Background Information
This was a 2002 film by Paul Greengrass about the 1972 “Bloody Sunday” shootings in Derry, Northern Ireland. The movie appeared in cinemas in North America, and in select cities in Europe. It aired a few days later on ITV in the UK, on January 20, 2002. It was the events that are covered in the film that lead Bono to write “Sunday Bloody Sunday”.
There is no soundtrack for the film. Only one piece of music is included, and that is a live version of “Sunday Bloody Sunday” that plays over the final credits. And it continues after the credits are finished, playing against a black screen until the song is done. This performance of “Sunday Bloody Sunday” was performed live at Croke Park, in Dublin, on June 6, 1987. This version of the song has never been officially released on any other project by the band. It is evidence that they maintain a huge back catalog of live shows in beautiful quality somewhere.
