Background Information

The film, Bukowski: Born Into This debuted on January 18, 2003. The film was a documentary film that examined the life of American author Charles Bukowski. Directed by John Dullaghan, the film includes interviews with Bono about Bukowski, who Bono has identified as an inspiration.

In the film itself, as well as the interview, Bono reads one of Bukowski’s poems, “The Crunch” which comes in towards the end of the film near the 90 minute mark. For the home video release of the film, more of Bono’s interview is included, as well as his reading of Bukowski’s “Roll the Dice”.

The film was an official selection at both the Sundance Film Festival and the Tribeca Film Festival in 2003. The DVD release was March 21, 2006.
