Background Information

The “International Weekly Showreel” is a weekly DVD produced by Universal for distributions to European partners between the years of 2003 and 2009. The Showreel would include video clips from most of Universal’s artists, including full music videos, Electronic Press Kits, as well as advertising. They would also include a section sometimes labeled “Not for Broadcast” with additional extras, including rare videos, videos from media appearances around the world etc.

These are pressed DVDs. Each one comes in a standard DVD case, and each features an Universal artist on the cover. For instance, U2 is featured on the cover of 18.09, the May 11, 2009 issue of this release, when the DVD promoted U2’s new single “Magnificent.” Each DVD features content from a number of artists, regardless of who the artist on the cover is.

U2 is not on every release of the “International Weekly Showreel” but do appear on a number of them. Below in the catalog section you will find a listing of the individual issues that contain U2 that we are aware of and a listing of what the specific content is. In some cases these appearances are small advertisements only, yet sometimes there are full songs featured.

U2 is known to have had the cover of the weekly promotional DVD for the following releases:

U2 may have been on the cover for other releases in the series, we have information about 90% of the releases from 2005 onwards, but limited information about the earlier releases from 2003 – 2005. The earliest video in this series we are aware of is from May 2003, and the last that we have information on is from August 2009.
