Background Information
In 2001 U2 saw their song “Elevation” remixed and released as a single to promote Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. The remix by Chris Vrenna was featured in the film and also appeared on the soundtrack album.
In Germany, Concorde Films sent out press kits promoting the German release of the film. The press kit included an audio CD which included dialog from the not yet release film, and interviews with the stars of the film, Angelina Jolie, Jon Voight, Daniel Craig as well as director Simon West. The audio disc ends with an edited version of “Elevation” (Tomb Raider Mix) which runs just short of 2 minutes. For the edit the track uses the opening of the track, and the end of the track, and makes edits in the middle portion of the song.
The disc was in a card sleeve, and the front of the disc uses the movie poster image of Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft with the note “Ab 28. Juni im Kino”, noting the film would be out June 28.
The CD was distributed in many cases with a 30 page promotional booklet detailing the film’s cast and crew, production notes, images from the film and a filmography for Angelina Jolie. The booklet was also filled with press images from the movie. It was sent to media reporting on the film ahead of the release in Germany.
