Background Information

Pure Dance was a series of albums released by Universal Music in Canada in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The first five releases were numbered, 1-5, and in 2001 the release was labeled with the year instead, this CD was “Pure Dance 2001”.

The artists included on the compilation are all artists recording on Universal music labels. The U2 track that is included here is the Quincey & Sonance Remix of “Beautiful Day”. The song is the standalone edit of the track, and is not mixed into tracks that surround it for this release. This mix of the track featured on the “Stuck in a Moment“, “Walk On“, “Elevation“ and the “7 (Rare and Remixed)“ EP. But on each of those releases it is a longer version of the song at 07:56. This edited version at 03:52 was only featured on promotional releases of “Beautiful Day“, a promotional release called “The Rest of the Remixes 1990 – 2000“ and a CD released with Q Magazine in the UK titled “Q: The Best Tracks from the Best Albums of 2000“. This Canadian compilation CD is a far easier way to find the edited track than those above.

Quincey & Sonance was a name for DJs CJ Agnelli and Robbie Nelson.
