Background Information
This limited edition vinyl album was sold via the Windmill Lane Recording Studios website. It is available on clear vinyl, and contains tracks from a number of artists who have recorded at the studio over the years. The U2 track is “Mysterious Ways” and it is the opening song on side A. The compilation was put together in conjunction with Universal Music Ireland, and was released October 29, 2021.
Windmill Lane is a recording studio in Dublin, which opened in 1978. U2 have been working in the studio since it’s establishment, and used the studio to remix their very first commercially released recording, 1979’s “Three”. They would return to the studios to record Boy and they have worked in the studio for many of the subsequent albums. Although “Mysterious Ways” was famously started in Berlin at Hansa Studios, the album Achtung Baby was later finished in Ireland, including time in Windmill Studios.
Nick Younger of Universal Music Ireland said: “Few studios in the world can compare to the incredible list of artists and producers who have recorded in Windmill Lane. With the very rich catalogue and the new talented artists recording in the studios today, I’ve no doubt that this will be the first volume of many.”
