Background Information

Released on May 6, 2021 on the Discovery+ streaming service, Citizen Penn follows Sean Penn and his team at CORE, as they first enter Haiti in 2010, and throughout the ten years that follow. It follows them through the immediate aftermath of the humanitarian crisis to long term rebuilding efforts. The film was planned for release at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2020. The film was later delayed by COVID-19, and has since moved to a debut on the Discovery+ service in the USA.

The score of the film is by Linda Perry, former frontwoman for 4 Non Blondes. Joining Perry for the final song in the film is Bono. The song, “Eden: To Find Love” is performed by Bono, and writing credits for the song are Linda Perry and Bono. The song plays over the final credits of the film. It is the only music in which Bono is involved. The song, and Bono’s involvement was announced in 2020 while the film was still set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.

The song features a couple of others who will be familiar to U2 fans. Both Elijah Hewson and Jordan Hewson, Bono’s children, appear on the track in the backing vocals. Elijah is currently the vocalist with Inhaler.
