Background Information

On a break from the Rolling Stones, Ron Wood worked on a solo album in 1992, recording Slide on This and releasing the album in September of 1992. The album was recorded in Dublin, Ireland where Wood was living at the time. Recording was done in both Ron Woods home in St. Kildare Ireland, and Windmill Lane Recording Studios in Dublin. Ron Wood took advantage of his Dublin location to invite some locals to play on tracks, including U2’s The Edge, and members of Hothouse Flowers. The album was Ron Wood’s first solo project in twelve years. The second single from the album was “Somebody Else Might” which was one of the tracks that featured U2’s The Edge performing on additional guitars.

There were two configurations of the single. Both included the “Slidin’ On This Mix” of the title track, remixed by Eoghan McCarron, Bernard Fowler and Ronnie Wood (the original album producers.) The mix is similar to the original track. The single also included “Ain’t Rock & Roll”, which is another song that featured The Edge. The version included is the same version as the Slide on This album version. In most regions the single was a two track single, however in Australia, a third track was included which was an edit of the album version of “Somebody Else Might”. That edit was only available on promotional releases elsewhere, such as the 1-track promotional single issued in the USA.
