- The Hype perform at the Presbyterian Hall, Sutton. It is their last performance. Dik leaves the stage after performing with The Hype and returns with the Virgin Prunes, and U2 come back as a four piece and play under their new name. They are joined on stage by Steve Averill and guitarist Billy Morley. Adam Clayton also performs with Modern Heirs that night. (1978)
- “With or Without You” makes its debut on radio worldwide.
