- U2, still calling themselves The Hype, are due to play an outdoor festival at Blackrock Park, but many of the performances are cancelled due to crowd trouble, including The Hype’s. (1978)
- U2 make their television debut in the USA performing on the Tomorrow Show, and performing “I Will Follow” and “Twilight” taped on May 30. (1981)
- A planned show at Salford University in England with Altered Images has to be canceled, as U2 are unavailable. Promoters are told the band won’t be back from North America in time. The Polecats replace U2 on the bill. (1981)
