- Greg Carroll, a longtime assistant to Bono, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Dublin. The loss, and subsequent visit to New Zealand lead the band to writing “One Tree Hill.” (1986)
- Due to a back injury, U2 had to cancel a planned concert for this day in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at the Rogers Centre. The date would be rescheduled in early 2011. The entire tour leg was cancelled. (2010)
