- U2 launch Mother Records officially, although the name had been registered earlier. (1984)
- The Supreme Court of Ireland give a go-ahead to two PopMart concerts scheduled later in the month at the Landsdowne Road stadium in Dublin. Earlier in the week the High Court, under pressure from the locals, had banned the two shows. (1997)
