Bono and The Edge to Perform on December 14
Original Story by Aaron J. Sams (2022-12-05)
On December 14, 2022, Bono and The Edge performed at the Ambassador Theatre in Dublin. They were joined by Kate Ellis and Jacknife Lee who have been touring with Bono for his “Stories of Surrender” tour, as well as Music Generation, Ireland’s music education program, and Glen Hansard. The show is filmed for promotion of the Songs of Surrender album.
Audience members were invited guests including current students from Mount Temple, family and guests of Music Generation, and others from the local music community.
Hansard, who joined the musicians gathered tonight organizes the annual Busk for Simon Community. He will appear on Friday night on the Late Late Show to promote this year’s Busk, expected to return to the streets of Dublin later this year for the first time since Covid hit. The Busk event, held annually at Christmastime in Dublin, has seen Bono and The Edge appearing with other artists to perform both their own songs and Christmas classics. Traditionally, the session was held outside in the streets around Grafton Street, but in more recent years has moved inside due to Covid, and has not had an audience. In 2020, Bono and The Edge appeared at the busk on the Late Late Show, which was filmed on December 11. During the night Bono and The Edge performed “Happy XMas (War is Over)”, “Walk On” and “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”. In 2021, the event was taped on December 19 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the event was streamed online. Bono performed “Running to Stand Still” at last year’s event, and a recording of last year’s Busk is being released on December 9 digitally, and on vinyl. The recording will include Bono’s performance. A list of all of the past busking performances at Christmas can be found in our show archive. For the full show details, including set list, please check the following show listing:
