Bono co-writes new Martin Garrix Song
Original Story by Aaron J. Sams (2025-03-28)
Earlier this week, Martin Garrix appeared on De 538 Middagshow to discuss his new song with Arijit Singh, “Angels for Each Other”. When talking to the hosts, Garrix explained “Bono helped with my singing technique, with breathing, and with lyrics. I’ve worked with him and The Edge a lot. And also recorded a lot of demos. And he’s been pushing for 3 to 4 years for me to release a song with my own vocals.” He also shared, “The lyrics are very poetic and that is partly thanks to him.”
Digging into the song a bit more, Bono is indeed thanked for lyrics on the track which was released earlier this month. The credits for writing include Arijit Singh, Juno, Martin Garrix, Michel Zitron, Shaun Farrugia, as well as Bono and Bono’s longtime songwriting partner, Simon Carmody. “Angels for Each Other” was released on March 13, 2025 on all major streaming platforms. The track can be streamed / purchased here. (It is available at CD resolution, as well as at higher resolution. (24-bit, 44.1kHz)
A video for the song with Garrix and Singh performing together in India was released on March 17. The video was directed by Mathias Normann and Damian Karsznia. The video uses the same mix of the song, but has some additional live elements added into the music to make it appear to be from the live performance filmed for the video.
It’s easy to see some of Bono’s possible touches in a lyric like:
The sun and the moon and stars
We don’t have to look so far
In the shadows of dawn
We’ve been here all along
Angels for each other
We are
The song is a bit of a departure for Garrix. While Singh is the predominant vocalist, Garrix is heard singing on a chorus and verse of the song, his first time singing on his own work.
The press release for the song shares, “The anthemic and upbeat track seamlessly brings together Arijit Singh’s exceptional vocal talent with Garrix’s unmatched production building into grandeur for the heartfelt song. Arijit, a true musical icon whose influence knows no borders, takes a bold step as he sings in English for the first time, seamlessly blending it with his iconic Hindi vocals. With nearly 140 million followers on Spotify, his global reach is a testament to his unparalleled impact. ‘Angel’s For Each Other’ beautifully celebrates the simplicity of life and the power of compassion, showcasing both Arijit’s and Garrix’s extraordinary ability to connect with audiences around the world. Garrix also took to the booth, but this time to record his vocals for the first time. He first shared with fans on his Instagram in a teaser for the song earlier this week that he would be singing on the record too. The final result is a track blending beautiful voices and cultures in one, while both Garrix and Singh show a more introspective, yet vulnerable side to their artistry.”
Garrix previously worked on “We Are the People“ with Bono and The Edge, released for the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament in 2021. Garrix also collaborated with U2 as a producer, as well as mixing and mastering for “Your Song Saved My Life“.
The single is out now on Stmpd Records. It was delivered to radio in North America on March 24. Thanks to Martijn for the heads up.
