Original Story: 2025-12-22

An early listing on Amazon shared the release of the soundtrack to EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert. Bono’s “American David” is included on the digital release of the soundtrack. The soundtrack is out February 20, 2026. Bono’s reading of the poem also features in the film of the same name. The Amazon listing has now been removed, but was reported by the Elvis Presley blog, Elvis Day By Day. The soundtrack will be distributed by Sony. As it has not been officially announced yet, details of a physical release are unknown at this time.

“American David” is a poem that Bono originally wrote to preface a book which accompanied the exhibit “Elvis + Marilyn: 2 X Immortal”, celebrating artwork of Elvis and Marilyn, at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. The exhibit opened in 1994, and then toured the country for a number of years. The poem itself was the source of lyrics for Passengers’ “Elvis Ate America”, although that song does cut a large portion of the song out. The poem was also included in the Spring 1995 issue of the band’s Propaganda magazine (issue 22) as a fold out colour poster. It was also produced as a black and white poster by White Fields Press that year and appeared in Q Magazine‘s June 1995 issue (issue 105) as part of a “The Record that Changed My Life” piece contributed by Bono.

The Bono read poem, is read over the final credits of the film over an instrumental track composed by Elliott Wheeler.

The film is directed by Baz Lurhmann, and will feature lost footage of Elvis performing, and newly found audio recordings of Elvis discussing his life story. The “new” footage was discovered by Luhrmann during his research for the 2022 biopic, Elvis.

The film debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2025. Special screenings to mark Elvis’ 91st birthday happen on January 8, 2026 at a special event at Graceland in the TCB Showroom. The film is then widely released as an IMAX exclusive on February 20, 2026, with a general theatrical release the following week on February 27, 2026. The film will be distributed by Neon and Universal Pictures.
