Breaking Waves…Recording wrapping up, Awards, Orchestral Tribute and More
Original Story by Aaron J. Sams (2025-11-20)
From our previously reliable sources it looks like the band are on track for a Fall 2026 release of the album, with a single released next summer to kick things off. We are told that work is nearing completion on the album, and that the band are pretty confident they are in the final stretch. By this time next year we should have a new album, have seen a number of promotional appearances to promote that album, and should have news of a new tour. We’re getting closer.
The album as yet has not had a title announced. Work began in earnest on the album last Fall when Larry Mullen was able to return full time to the band after a series of surgeries to repair years of damage brought on by years of drumming.
You can find more information on the new album in these locations:

Bono was recently up for a couple of awards for Stories of Surrender, at the 2025 Hollywood Music in Media Awards given out last night. Unfortunately Bono did not win in either category. “Sunday Bloody Sunday” was nominated in the category “On-Screen Performance (Film)” but the award was given to the song “I Lied to You” by Miles Caton from Sinners won. Stories of Surrender was also nominated in “Music Documentary – Special Program. The award however went to Diane Warren: Relentless directed by Bess Kargman. The film may still be nominated for other awards, we’ll keep an eye on and report any news.
One list we missed earlier in the year was Spin magazine’s “The 40 Greatest Musicians of the Last 40 Years”. The list started earlier this year, and the latest issue of the magazine covers the second half of the list from #20 to #1.
U2 made it onto the list, and were covered in the last issue of the magazine in August. They were #40 on the list. The list was done to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the magazine.

As mentioned above we are seeing a lot of fake information on social media at the moment. We are also seeing a significant amount of incorrect information about the band being posted in what appears to be AI-generated postings. All of our posts are researched by human beings, written by human beings and we plan on continuing that. We played around with some AI image generation a few years back, and have decided that is not for us. All of the content here will continue to be generated by humans.
On another front, all this AI rush is seeing our site get harvested for content over and over by AI sources. This is causing a resource drain on the site at times. We’ve been able to manage, but if you see us down, or if you see older content on the front page, please let us know and we’ll do a quick reboot. Many thanks.

We’ve been continuing our work in the U2 discography updating older entries and adding new entries. You can see updates as they happen on the right side of our front page under “updated releases”, but here’s a list of some of the newly added material:
- Promo Only Radio Series / Mainstream Radio Series: A series of US promotional releases sent to radio spotlighting the newest releases each month, often including U2. (Including a new edit of the Lemonade Mix of “Lemon”)
- Quincy Jones Q: The Musical Biography of Quincy Jones Collection: Bono appeared on Q’s Jook Joint on two tracks, the intro and “Let the Good Times Roll”. This compilation features a different edit of these tracks, combined into one.
- Underworld The Bells, The Bells: Larry Mullen played marimba on the Underworld track “Boy, Boy, Boy” and this Underworld release features the remix of the song, as well as the video for the song on the accompanying CD. (No Larry appearances in the video.)
- Tina Turner “In Your Wildest Dreams“ Single: A live version of the Bono / Edge penned “Goldeneye” is featured on this single on one of the UK versions. Not the same as the other live version of the song in our database
- Emmylou Harris “Wrecking Ball“ Single: We’ve had the promotional release in our database for a while now, but we’ve now added the commercial single as well for this song that Emmylou Harris recorded with Daniel Lanois and Larry Mullen among others.
We are also working on some new entries in our show database, and doing some clean up work in the video and demos sections at the moment. We enjoy the quieter times for a chance to catch up on all of this!
