“Days of Ash” in Atmos, Lyric Videos and Promo

Original Story by Aaron J. Sams (2026-03-23)

The Dolby Atmos version of “Days of Ash“ is now available. For those looking for a different way to listen the Atmos version is available on Apple Music and Tidal via streaming. The mixing process for Atmos is a time consuming one and took some time post-release to get ready for release.

Atmos is a surround sound technology which was developed by Dolby Labs. It uses multiple sound channels to add height to a sound, allowing for a 3D sound for the listener instead of a flat sound. U2 have been mixing for Atmos since 2021’s release of “Your Song Saved My Life”.

When “Days of Ash“ launched on February 18, six lyric videos were made available, one for each track on the EP. These lyric videos were produced by the UK design group, F That in conjunction with U2’s creative team. As lyric videos these focus mostly on the words of the song, mixed with still images and some animation. “Yours Eternally” however, does feature footage of Taras Topolia performing the song with Antytila.

At the time of the release, the lyric videos were exclusive to YouTube. They were not made available on other digital platforms. However, “Yours Eternally” was sent out as a promotional video on the day that the EP was released in some areas.

The videos use slightly different edits of the audio. On the EP, there is a continuous flow from “Song of the Future”, into “Wildpeace” and into “One Life at a Time”. These do not fade out on the EP, but one song flows into the next. To make the videos work as standalone music videos, some edits were made to the audio used for the lyric videos.

Both “Song of the Future” and “Wildpeace” start out as usual. But the end of the track is extended into the next song before a fade out happens. So at the end of “Song of the Future” you hear a bit of “Wildpeace” as the song fades out, and at the end of “Wildpeace” you hear a bit of “One Life at a Time” before fading out. The other tracks match up to the edits found on the EP itself.

This week past, U2 made the six videos available on major streaming services. They are no longer exclusive to YouTube. This includes Apple Music and Tidal where you can now view all six videos. The videos are complete with the credit at the end and the advertisement for the EP, matching the lyric videos first made available on YouTube. These videos were made available on March 18, 2026 on these additional services.

We think there is a unique release to Japan; four of these lyric videos have also been made available to purchase on digital storefronts in that country. The four videos are the same as the lyric videos on other services, with the same edits and the same credit at the end. All of the tracks are available with the exception of “American Obituary” and “Wildpeace”.

There aren’t many storefronts outside of Japan selling videos, beyond iTunes, which does not have these lyric videos. If you do see a storefront selling, and not streaming, these videos, please give us a shout.

The band has continued to promote the EP to radio as well as to video platforms. Initially “Yours Eternally”, “American Obituary” and “Song of the Future” were all pushed as the radio single.

“American Obituary” initially went out in North America. Recently promotional releases have switched gears and “Song of the Future” is now being sent out to promo in North America. In the UK, where “Song of the Future” was already being promoted to radio, the lyric video for “Song of the Future” was pushed for promotion last week as well.
