Happy 31st Anniversary U2Songs
Original Story by Aaron J. Sams (2026-04-07)
Back in 1995, I started what would become U2Songs.com. I try to stop and reflect each year, before moving on to what comes next.
Thirty-one years go by quick. Yet sometimes it feels like it has been forever. There’s still a wild energy here among the team. A new release comes along, and the emails and messages start flying. We reach out with ideas, little things we find and spot. The discussions all started with U2 years ago, and they still start with U2 now. Sure there’s conversations in between. But it’s at these times when U2 puts out something fresh and new that the energy really starts buzzing. And that “electrical storm” isn’t just with our team, it is being felt all through the fan community right now.
The last few weeks have been wonderful.
In a life
We catch a glimpse of someone else
In your eyes
Caught a glance of myself…
Happy 31st anniversary to this mad crazy thing I started here at U2Songs. A toast to the incredible team here who have been helping me build from the beginnings. A big happy birthday to both Harry and Carl, who have celebrated their own birthdays in the last week. And a thank you to everyone who has joined us for the ride over the years. Your contributions do not go unnoticed, I do feel quite lucky to have spent time in your company in the real world, and in the digital realm.
To the band? Thank you for sticking with it for 50 years. Thank you for inspiring all of us to come together. I often do wonder if the band knows of all the relationships, the friendships, the families that have been born because they all met in Larry’s kitchen 50 years ago and stuck with it? Thank you for the inspiration to form our own band here.
We told you a few months back that 2026 was going to be a little bit insane when it came to the band. To not expect the expected from the band this time around. To look forward to some surprises this time out. I think so far it is safe to say we’re seeing that in action this year. And it’s just getting started.

We won’t highlight every anniversary story over the years, but we will take you back to our 25th and 22nd anniversaries, in 2020 and 2017, where we took some questions from other fans as well as from the team at U2.com. It’s a good place to start if you want to get to know some of the team a little better, and a good look into the site.
