Jingle Balls Playlist by U2: Deezer
Original Story by Aaron J. Sams (2017-12-12)
U2 have contributed a playlist of Christmas favorites on the music streaming service Deezer. The playlist is called “Jingle Balls: the U2 Christmas Cracker“ and the information for the list is as follows: “This Christmas selection by U2 is a throwback to their ‘Jingle Balls’ residency in Dublin in the late 70s.” The full playlist contains twenty tracks and runs 1 hour and 6 minutes. It is not known what members of U2 might have participated in the creation of this playlist, although from the selections we expect Bono and The Edge were involved.
The playlist comes complete with a ‘cover’ for the playlist which features a recent promotional image of U2 on a couch and the title “Jingle Balls by U2”.

Included is U2’s very well known cover of “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home” which was released in 1987. It is far from the only Christmas song that U2 have been involved in over the years, and the very first History Mix we did for the site looked at a number of U2 forays into Christmas songs including “Do You Know It’s Christmas”, “The Darkest Midnight”, their cover of Greg Lake’s “I Believe in Father Christmas” and more. That History Mix includes video and may interest you as well.
If you have an interest in other playlists that U2 have chosen over the years for various media, we maintain a section which tracks many of these.
