New Single Update: Get Out of Your Own Way

U2 have updated one additional single as part of the refresh project.

“Get Out of Your Own Way” has been updated today on several online sites, including YouTube music, Tidal, Spotify, Qobuz and others. However, the release hasn’t been updated everywhere, and this new version is not yet showing up on iTunes.

The four tracks included are:

“Get Out of Your Own Way” (03:59)
“Get Out of Your Own Way” (Acoustic Version) (02:57)
“Get Out of Your Own Way” (Switch Remix) (03:42)
“Get Out of Your Own Way” (Afrojack Remix) (04:07)

The single has been issued with the original intended artwork for the single, featuring Bono’s daughters, Eve and Jordan. When the Acoustic version and the remixes were initially issued, they used alternative artwork, this is the first time this artwork has appeared on streaming / commercial services, although it has appeared on U2.com over the years.

The acoustic version of the song was recorded live in Milan on December 7, 2017. The two remixes are the shortened versions of the remix. All three of these were previously issued as commercial releases. This version of the single released today also includes the album version of the song.

There were other versions of the song issued for promotion. These are not included on today’s release. These included longer versions of both remixes, and a two edits of the title track. These remain promotional only releases.

The first upgrade of U2 singles was done on July 22, 2022. At that time new versions were uploaded to streaming services and commercial digital stores. These included singles released between 2004 and 2019. “Get Out of Your Own Way” was one single that was not part of that initial offering of 11 singles. That update was done in stages, with the new tracks added on July 22, and older versions of the singles being removed over the weeks that followed. If you don’t see these on your favourite service just yet, give it a few days and look again, it is likely they may be updates through the week to come.

“Get Out of Your Own Way” appears to be the only updated single for today. We have reviewed a range of sites, and indeed this appears to be the only new update at this time. This work is being done as part of an ongoing process to update U2’s offering on digital platforms. This work is not impacting the release of new material, and would be undertaken regardless. We will continue to bring updates as new work is updated and issued.
