“Pop Heart” Makes Pop Chart
Jam Showbiz! (1997-11-02)
“Pop Heart Live E.P.” spends it first week at
number 4 giving U2 their fourth consecutive top five hit so far this year.
The E.P. recorded during U2’s Pop Mart Tour features a live version of
“Please” recorded in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and “With Or Without You”
recorded in Edmonton. Even though the band rose to superstardom after the
1987 release of “The Joshua Tree” album, U2 is stronger than ever with 1997
fast becoming the best chart year they ever had. In February, “Discotheque”
became their first number 1 single in Canada; meanwhile, the album, “Pop”
likewise went immediately to the top. Two other singles from the album
followed “Discotheque” into the top ten: “Staring At The Sun” (number 2, in
April), “Last Night On Earth” (number 4, in July)
