Original Story by Aaron J. Sams (2018-04-16)

WARNING: As the tour rehearsals progress we will be posting spoilers about songs on the site itself. We will try to give advance warning about these in this fashion. THIS STORY CONTAINS SPOILERS. If you continue reading below you will find spoilers about songs that were heard at the venue for today’s performance. We would ask that you remember some fans do not want spoilers before the start of the tour, and use caution when posting about this story on your social media feeds.

U2 are rehearsing for the upcoming eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour in Laval, Quebec, just outside of Montreal. Rehearsals began April 9, 2017 at Place Bell, a small arena. The arena is a newer one, opened in 2017. Today, April 16, marked the eighth day since U2 arrived in Laval and started working on things.

To date our previous summaries can be found here:

There will be song spoilers in this report from this point onward.

The band arrived in the early afternoon at the venue, and only Adam was seen to stop to greet fans gathered. Adam signed a quick autograph or two and then hurried into the venue, and music was heard just fifteen minutes late, possibly explaining why he did not stay with fans longer.

Two songs were played by the band early in the day:

  • “The Showman (Little More Better)”
  • “You’re The Best Thing About Me”

After these two songs, the band took a long break from performing any music, and it would be almost three hours later before any further songs were heard. The band would then play the following:

  • “Raised by Wolves” (Partial) (First time rehearsed in Canada)
  • “Sunday Bloody Sunday” (First time rehearsed in Canada)
  • “Raised by Wolves”
  • “Sunday Bloody Sunday”
  • “Raised by Wolves”
  • “Until the End of the World” (Intro only – 20 seconds)
  • “The Showman” (Just the Intro)
  • “The Showman” (nearly full)
  • “The Showman” (Until 2nd chorus)
  • “The Showman” (Full)
  • “The Showman” (Full)
  • “Raised by Wolves” (Just piano)

At this point the band stopped rehearsing. We do not know at this time if they will continue, if they do we will report further in the morning.

The “Sunday Bloody Sunday” / “Raised by Wolves” portion sounds very similar to how it was performed in 2015, complete with explosions. Neither song had been heard to date since rehearsals have started in Laval. This is the first night for both in Canadian rehearsals.
