“Streets of Surrender (S.O.S.)” Video, Promotional Single, and new Deluxe Album for Zucchero
Original Story by Aaron J. Sams (2016-11-15)
Earlier this year Zucchero released the song “Streets of Surrender (S.O.S.)” written by Bono and Simon Carmody on his album Black Cat. Since the albums release, the album has spent the last six months in the top 10 best selling albums list in Italy. The album was released on April 29, and featured Mark Knopfler performing on “Streets of Surrender (S.O.S.),” the song that Bono had written. The song was initially sketched out by Zucchero as a song about surrender, and when he met with U2 in Turin on September 5, 2015 he asked Bono to help him complete the lyrics as Bono had done for previous Zucchero songs. After the attacks in Paris, Bono finished the lyrics with long time co-writer Simon Carmody.
This week saw a release of a video for the song on the anniversary of the Paris attacks that had inspired the song. The video is streaming on VEVO for European viewers, and is also being sold in iTunes stores in Europe. The video opens with an eye, and switches to a mix of scenes, Zucchero singing in studio, scenes of Paris in time lapse, and images of great architecture from around the world. The video closes with the same eye closing. The video version of the song runs 03:59 in length. The video is labeled “Captiolo XIII” in the opening, on the original album it is the thirteenth track.
