The Busk to be Released
Original Story by Aaron J. Sams (2021-12-24)
As we shared a few days back, Bono will be participating in #TheBusk, a replacement for the annual Grafton Street Busk which cannot be held this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. Bono will be peforming “Running to Stand Still” for the celebration this evening.
The event was filmed on December 19, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin. Bono will be joined by Glen Hansard, organizer of the event, and other artists in performances which will be streamed via Simon Community’s social media channels. The event is free to watch, however, it is asked that people support Simon Community with a donation, their organization helps the homeless in Dublin. They share, “Donations will help us to keep the doors open at Simon Communities across Ireland to provide essential supports in tackling homelessness, and delivering homelessness prevention initiatives.”
As well as being streamed today, Mark Logan of Collective Films is making a film of the event. Speaking to RTE he revealed, “Not only are we making a film, it’s also a live gig, we’re also simultaneously building a campaign, we’re also recording for a record, we’re going to release in the new year.” There is no confirmation yet on whether Bono’s performance of “Running to Stand Still” will be released on the album.
Logan also revealed the whole idea for the event came together in just twelve days.
