U2.Com Subsciption Gift Information
Original Story by Aaron J. Sams (2017-05-03)
These information points are explained in more detail below:
- If you have subscribed for 2017, and have not yet chosen the gift, you will need to redeem for the new gift. See instructions below.
- If you have not yet re-subscribed / subscribed for 2017, you will not see the option to redeem until you renew, and when you resubscribe you will choose your gift while doing it. If you get the redeem button after a resubscription, it appears to be an error, and will not have the credit to apply to your account. (Hint: If you have not subscribed / resubscribed since early December, you are not yet in the 2017 subscription year. And your expiry date is likely between now and November)
- If you have subscribed for 2017 and chosen one of the other gifts, you will not get the option to redeem for this new gift. You already chose a different gift.
- When you hit the redeem button it will place an order, for $85, but that order should also have a credit for $85. If it does not, we recommend contacting U2.Com at U2.com/help.
Original Article:
U2.Com announced their subscription gift today. But before we get to the details, we want to point out that this year it appears that you have to redeem and order the gift.
This is a new process which we haven’t seen before. If you are a new or a renewed subscriber since the new gift was announced in December of last year, you should be able to see a redemption button in your account.

When you go to U2.com and visit your profile page at http://www.u2.com/profile in the bottom left hand corner of that page you will see a box that says “The Joshua Tree Singles Vinyl Collection 1987 & 2017” which instructs that “To receive “The Joshua Tree Singles: Remastered & Live” please make sure your mailing address is current, or update it, then click below” and there is a red button that says “REDEEM”.
Once you click on the Redeem button it will bring you to the Order page, where it will list the four vinyl set for $85.00, but it will also list a credit for the same amount. You must confirm the order, and you will then get an email confirmation that have ordered the vinyl. You are not charged again, the credit cancels out the charge in the order.
IMAGE: Older subscribers may see something like this instead.
If you do not see the REDEEM button, and instead see the offer to download mp3s, it may be that you have not yet subscribed for the 2017 offer. The REDEEM button should be just above these subscriber downloads from previous years. Subscriptions for this offer started in December. If you have not re-subscribed since that time, or are not a subscriber currently you will not see this offer. (For instance, if you subscribe in July every year, and have not yet resubbed, you are still in last year’s subscription period, and will not see this vinyl until you resubscribe this July.) (Although some others who have just recently resubscribed are also reporting not seeing the REDEEM button. This should be reported through Zootopia.)
If you do need to subscribe for 2017, and you choose to do that, you should not need to seek out the REDEEM button as that choice is made during the subscription process. But it appears the REDEEM button is popping up, which is likely an error, and will likely be fixed in the upcoming days. (Subscribers doing this renewal and then pressing redeem are seeing an option to buy the vinyl, with NO credit.)
After you have redeemed for this offer you will still see the box that says “The Joshua Tree Singles Vinyl Collection: 1987 & 2017, but it will now say “You have redeemed your gift.” and no longer has the red button.

What is the gift? The gift this year is four 10-inch vinyl singles. One each for the original Joshua Tree singles, “With or Without You,” “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” “Where the Streets Have No Name,” and “In Gods Country”. Each 10-inch single features the 2007 remastered version of the song, never before released on a single. And each single will feature a live version of the same song on the B-Side. The live versions of these songs will be recorded this summer on the #U2TheJoshuaTree2017 Tour.
