U2 has new release
King Features (2000-09-22)
U2 fans who are hungry for new music from the group are about to get fed. Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen and Adam Clayton recently released a new single, Beautiful Day, and are getting set to release their 20th studio album, All That You Can’t Leave Behind, on Oct. 31. But if you can’t wait that long, U2 is offering samples from two new album tracks each week through its official Web site at www.u2.com. Currently available are the songs Elevation and Walk On. While the group’s past few studio efforts played around with more mainstream music, Bono says that rock music makes a major comeback on this album. “Rock music has left the charts to pop music. I think that’s a shame. We got off on the music made by the Sex Pistols, the Clash, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Nirvana — rock music is never as interesting as when it has a go at it, it takes them on and that’s what we want to do in the next year, you know, make the pop charts better,” he said.
U2 plans to kick off a U.S tour in support of All That You Can’t Leave Behind early in spring of 2001.
