U2 PopMart: New Shows Added!

NEW YORK, June 10 /PRNewswire/ — Promoter Michael Cohl on behalf of TNA today announced the addition of six shows to U2’s European PopMart tour.
The additional European shows are: August 12th – WARSAW, Horse Race Track; August 30th – DUBLIN (venue tba); September 11th – LISBON, Alvalade; 18th – ROME, Aeroporto Del-Urbe; 20th – REGGIO EMILIA, Festa Nazionale Del Unita; 26th – THESSALONIKA – Harbour Yard; and 30th – TEL AVIV, Ramat Gan Stadium.
Cohl went on to say that there will definitely be a concert in U2’s home town of Dublin on August 30th. ``We’ve been in discussion with a number of
venues since the beginning of the year and are close to resolution. There is no question, there will be a Dublin show.’‘
PopMart, which kicks off in Europe in Rotterdam on July 18th, recently celebrated its 2 millionth ticket sold.
The North American leg continued this week with sold out shows in Philadelphia (June 8th), Winnipeg (June 12th) and Edmonton (June 14th &
15th). By the end the first leg — July 2nd in Boston — PopMart will have played 26 stadiums, the majority of which were sold out. After the European Tour, PopMart returns to the US for a further 17 shows before traveling on to South America, South Africa and Australia before finishing in the Far East in the spring of 1998.
