Original Story: November 24, 2025

Announced this morning by Jenny Huston on U2 X-Radio, the station will be airing a special acoustic set by Bono and The Edge, performed at last months Woody Guthrie Prize Award Ceremony in Tulsa OK. The acoustic performance, and the conversation with T-Bone Burnett will air on U2’s X-Radio station (Channel 32) on November 25, at 7pm Eastern. It is not known at this time whether the entire performance and discussion will be aired, or if it will just be a selection of songs from the performance.

The performance saw Bono and The Edge do “Running to Stand Still”, “Mothers of the Disappeared”, “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, “One”, “Pride (In the Name of Love)”, and “Yahweh”. During the set they also did extended pieces of “This Train is Bound for Glory” and “Jesus Christ”. “This Train is Bound for Glory” was first recorded and made popular by Sister Rosetta Tharpe, but later became associated with Woody Guthrie, and was used for the title of his autobiography. “Jesus Christ” was one of Guthrie’s songs, which U2 covered in 1989 for the Folkways: A Vision Shared Album. Our full run down of the performance at Cain’s Ballroom is available in our show archive.

The U2 X-Radio station has rarely included previously unreleased material. So this is a nice treat for subscribers. It is not known yet if the program will be available on demand for later replays, or if it will air beyond tomorrow’s premiere.

SiriusXM is a subscriber based satellite radio station that is available in the US and Canada. It is not available outside of these regions. The U2 X-Radio station has been running on the service since 2020 and celebrated its fifth anniversary earlier this year.
