U2’s Sweetest Things: A Countdown

Airing today is a new countdown special on U2 X-Radio, titled U2’s Sweetest Things. The countdown, for Valentine’s Day was announced January 27 and allowed U2 fans to vote for their favourite “love songs.” Today the results of that poll are aired on the station. The program is also hosted by fans with recordings of fans introducing the tracks being used. Advertising for the show reads, “Valentine’s Day is upon us, and U2 X-Radio (Ch. 32) is celebrating the romantic side of U2 with a fan-voted countdown of the legendary band’s sweetest love songs.”

The special airs in the following time slots and runs about 2 hours in length.

  • Friday, February 12th, 1:00 pm
  • Friday, February 12th, 7:00 pm
  • Saturday, February 13th, 7:00 am
  • Saturday, February 13th, 8:00 pm
  • Sunday, February 14th, 12:00 am
  • Sunday, February 14th, 11:00 am
  • Sunday, February 14th, 10:00 pm
  • Monday, February 15th, 12:00 pm

The special can be heard on U2 X-Radio, available on channel 32 to subscribers of SiriusXM.

Voting for the Valentine’s show ended on February 8, 2021. Votes were collected via an online form on the SiriusXM website. This is the second time that Sirius has hosted a countdown, the previous countdown was the 100 most desired U2 songs based on fan requests for the “Desire” program.
