Original Story by Aaron J. Sams (2025-12-07)

The current known airings of the Woody Guthrie Awards are as follows:

  • USA and Canada: SiriusXM, Thursday, November 27 (Subscription Required, Available on Demand)
  • Italy: Virgin Radio, 9pm, Friday, December 12 (Hosted by Giulia Salvi) [Link]
  • France: RTL2, 6pm, Monday, December 15 (Hosted by Eric Jean Jean) [Link]
  • Poland: AntyRadio, 7pm, Wednesday, December 17

If additional airings are announced we will add them above and we are also tracking them in our upcoming events calendar.

Each station is doing their own edit of the performance. For the Italian broadcast the interview aired in English, with the host, Giulia Salvi, providing a summary of the content after each piece aired. In France it is DJ, Eric Jean Jean hosting the program. The Italian broadcast on Friday was approximately 45 minutes in length including ads. It was available on air, and over streaming if you were located in Italy. (Region encoding blocked the stream about 10 minutes prior to airing.) The Italian edit opened with Bono and Edge performing “Running to Stand Still” and went back and forth between performances and clips from the discussion with T Bone Burnett. The broadcast included the same music as the SiriusXM broadcast in November. Like that broadcast, “Mothers of the Disappeared” was not aired.

Updated: 2025-12-09:

We are told that an edited version of the Woody Guthrie performance and discussion will also air on RTL2 in France on December 15, on “Le Drive” at 6pm.

We will add more information as other airings in other countries are announced.

Original Story: 2025-12-07:

The Woody Guthrie Award will be aired live on Virgin Radio in Italy on Friday December 12, at 9pm Italy time. The broadcast appears to contain the performance by Bono and the Edge, as well as some of the conversation ahead of the show. Virgin Radio can be found online.

The Award, presented to Bono and The Edge, was given to them at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa OK, on October 21, 2025. As part of the award, U2 played a six song set.

The show has already aired on SiriusXM as an exclusive in North America for subscribers to the service. It first aired on November 27, 2025, and was repeated on the station throughout the week that followed, and is also available to listen to on demand. The SiriusXM broadcast included Bono and The Edge’s discussion with T Bone Burnett ahead of the performance, as well as the performance itself, which was complete with the exception of “Mothers of the Disappeared”. During the discussion Bono previewed the lyrics for a new song “One Life at a Time”, reading them from his phone, which may be heard on these upcoming broadcasts as well.

It appears that U2 may be following a same strategy as they did with the final Sphere broadcast, which initially aired on SiriusXM as an exclusive for North America for subscribers, before being widely distributed for free to radio stations outside of North America a few weeks later. That program was carried by Absolute Radio in the UK, TodayFM in Ireland, RTL2 in France, Triple M in Australia, and Radio Veronica in the Netherlands, among other stations. We’ll be keeping an eye open on these stations to see if any U2 content is announced. The Sphere broadcasts ranged in quality and content, and we took a look at what aired and on what stations here. A stream was also provided for U2.com subscribers, which was the highest quality online stream of the Sphere concert.

We will be adding the event into our calendar of upcoming events shortly!
