Ross Stewart shares his Work

Original Story by Aaron J. Sams (2025-07-07)

Ross Stewart has been photographing U2 for 10 years now. He’s been working with the band, and accompanying them on tour, taking photos nightly over the past few years. The photographs include live performance photography, travel shots with the band, and other promotional style images. His images have been used for the cover of fan club releases, and his image of the band walking out of the desert carrying their instruments became the image used to promote the 2019 Joshua Tree tour. Stewart has produced two galleries of photographs for Rolling Stone of U2’s recent live outings.

Stewart’s Sphere photography was recently collected as a limited photobook, available at Sphere in Las Vegas, and sold via U2.com. The 156 page full-colour, hardcover book featured an introduction by Stewart, a foreword by The Edge, and an essay by music journalist Pat Carty. The first edition quickly sold out in a couple of days (although we are told there are still copies to be had at Sphere when the film is showing!) and a second edition is available via U2.com now.

Stewart has recently given his website a refresh with a lot of new content sharing his work.

The photographs on his site include live performance captures, travel shots with the band, promotional shots for releases. He also photographs other artists and his work include Pixies, the recent Gavin Friday tour (and the video he shot for Gavin’s “The Church of Love”), and several up and coming artists. There’s a heavy focus on his U2 work, and fans should take a look, there may be a few items you haven’t seen before.

Also available are four limited prints from Stewart’s photography of U2 during their recent residency at Sphere in Las Vegas. Included in the selection of prints is a shot of Bono taking the stage, an image of Bono on stage as the Fly, a shot of the band performing “Zoo Station” which has been used for posters and T-shirts at the V-U2 film, and a view of the Es Devlin artwork of endangered species as the band leaves the stage. You can see the available prints here.

Ross Stewart also shares his work via Instagram.

Thank you Adele for the heads up!
