Original Story:
We expect the announcement today of the “ZooTV Live in Dublin 1993” EP. This 12-inch vinyl record on yellow vinyl will include five tracks taken from the August 1993 concerts in Dublin Ireland. A CD of the EP is also expected. The tracks included on both vinyl and CD are expected to be “Zoo Station”, “Mysterious Ways”, “Tryin’ to Throw Your Arms Around the World”, “Stay (Faraway, So Close!)” and “Love is Blindness”. The songs are taken from the August 28, 1993 show in Dublin that ended the European leg of Zoo TV and the previous night, August 27, 1993.
This is the EP that we previously discussed on May 13, 2024. Our source of information was unclear about the release dates at that time, but we can confirm this is the same EP that was discussed with us at that time and not something different.
The August 28, 1993 show was recorded, and broadcast on radio in 1993. Through the years three of the tracks have been released from that show, but never the full show. “Tryin’ to Throw Your Arms Around the World” was released on the Achtung Baby 30 Live fan club release. “Even Better than the Real Thing” was released on the Radio 1: FM Sessions compilation. And “Bullet the Blue Sky” was originally released on the “Stay (Faraway, So Close!)“ single, but was not included on the recent digital remaster. No tracks from the August 27, 1993 have previously been released.
The release is planned for August 30. The catalog number of the vinyl will be 5385909, a CD single is also planned. Expect pre-orders to start today for this release. We’ve set up our discography entry for this new release, and will fill in new details as they become available.
This is the first time U2 have opened the live archives for a release in a while. The “Virtual Road” EPs saw audio from live shows released, but it was all audio taken from previously released video titles. If this release proves to be popular, perhaps more will follow.
