Show Details:

An early performance of the band in school, this performance took place in the common room of the school in October 1977. The set includes a cover of Neal Hefti’s “Batman Theme” from the 1966 television series. This is one of a number of performances that U2 held at Mount Temple as they started as a band. Much of the information about these performances has been lost over the years. The exact date is not known here but it is known it happened in October of the year.

U2 would find themselves involved in making their own theme songs for Batman projects later in life. The Edge composed an instrumental theme for The Batman cartoon, and U2 came up with “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me” for Batman Forever.

The band were still playing as The Hype at this time. Typically they were a 5-piece, including the Edge’s brother Dik, but it is unknown if he played this show as he wasn’t a student at Mount Temple at this time.
